In this role you will get to work within a PMO working on major highways / infrastructure projects in the KSA Capital, Riyadh City. What You’ll Be Doing: Reviews road and highway design drawings, reports, and specifications prepared by third-party designers at concept and detailed design stages, with particular attention to interfaces with structures, drainage, utilities, traffic, and other disciplines. Develops and evaluates conceptual design options for roads, junctions, and interchanges to support the PMO and client decision-making, including layout alternatives and high-level geometric solutions. Contributes to value engineering studies for highways and interchanges, identifying opportunities to optimize geometry, pavement solutions, and safety features while maintaining compliance with standards and project objectives. Prepares engineering details, sketches, and exhibits to illustrate design concepts, value engineering proposals, and design clarifications. Reviews pavement design and road safety–related elements prepared by third parties, ensuring that recommendations are technically sound and aligned with applicable standards and good practice. Reviews third-party design submissions, supplier drawings, and technical documents, and prepares clear, coordinated technical comments and responses for PMO and client approval processes. Coordinates with multidisciplinary teams (bridges/structures, drainage, utilities, traffic, and architectural/landscape) to resolve design issues and ensure coherent, integrated solutions. Prepares and delivers presentations on complex road and interchange design matters to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. Assists in assessing design risks, constructability aspects, and phasing considerations for major road and interchange schemes. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. What Required Skills You’ll Bring: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum 10 years of experience in road and highway design, preferably including work on major highways and interchanges. Solid experience in geometric road design, including horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, and junction layouts in accordance with relevant international and local standards. Demonstrated experience in reviewing designs prepared by third-party consultants and producing structured, technically robust review comments. Working knowledge of pavement design principles and road safety engineering, with the ability to understand, challenge, and refine third-party proposals. Experience contributing to concept development and value engineering on road and highway projects. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team environment and coordinating with other disciplines. Proactive, solution-oriented approach, with willingness to support PMO processes and collaborate across teams to enhance overall project delivery. Good presentation and communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. What Desired Skills You’ll Bring: Previous experience in a design consultancy and/or PMC/PMO environment. Charted (or similar) status with an industry recognized engineering body Proficiency with relevant road design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, InRoads, or equivalent) sufficient to test concepts and prepare supporting sketches and exhibits. Experience participating in design review workshops, value engineering sessions, or technical coordination meetings for major infrastructure projects.
